    Iceberg Wedge with Creamy Dressing

    Source of Recipe

    from RecipeForSugarbusters

    Recipe Introduction

Maybe it was so old-fashioned that its now hip again. Iceberg lettuce with
creamy dressing could be the stuff of your parent's childhood, but this
comfort food is now showing up on the menus of trendy restaurants. Give a
new old and new favorite a try!

Prep and cook time: About 10 minutes
    Makes: 6 - 8 servings

    List of Ingredients

1 Head if iceberg lettuce or other tight-head lettuce
Ranch or Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing Dressing

    (Optional)
minced red or green bell pepper
    slivered radishes
    halved multicolored cherry tomatoes

    Recipe

    1) Because iceberg and other tight-head lettuces are so compact, it's not
necessary to separate the leaves as much as when rinsing loose-leaf
lettuces. Just cut out and discard the core from the iceberg lettuce, then
hold the head under cold running water and carefully loosen the leaves from
    inside the cored end.

    2) Shake off and drain away as much water as possible, discarding any
    bruised outer leaves.

    3) Blot the head of lettuce dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel,
then wrap loosely in paper towels, place in a plastic bag, and refrigerate
for at least 30 minutes or until chilled and crisp. Iceberg lettuce will
keep for up to 5 days.

    4) Serve cut wedges of iceberg lettuce topped with creamy Safeway SELECT
Premium Collection Salad Dressings, such as zesty Ranch Dressing or chunky
    Blue Cheese Dressing.

    5) (option) Accent a salad dressed with ranch with a topping of minced red
or green bell peppers, or sprinkle blue cheese-topped lettuce with slivered
radishes or halved multicolored cherry tomatoes and a chiffonade of fresh
    basil.
