    Barbecued Beef Brisket

    List of Ingredients

    1 (3 1/2 to 4 lb.) beef brisket
    1/4 C plus 2 T liquid smoke
    1 tsp salt
    1 T onion powder
    1 T garlic powder

    Barbecue Sauce
    1 C catsup
    1/2 C water
    2 T butter or margarine
    2 1/2 T brown sugar
    2 1/2 tsp dry mustard
    3/4 tsp celery salt
    3 T Worcestershire sauce



    Recipe

    Line a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with 36 inch piece of heavy duty aluminum foil, leaving a 9 inch over hang at short ends. Trim excess fat from brisket. Place in prepared pan; sprinkle with liquid smoke and salt. Bring long sides of foil together; fold down. Fold up short ends; crimp to seal. Chill 8 hours. Unwrap brisket, and sprinkle with onion powder. Rewrap brisket, and bake at 300 for 4 hours. Remove from pan, discarding juices; thinly slice brisket, and serve with Barbecue Sauce.
    Serves 6.

    Barbecue Sauce

    Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes. Yield: 1 1/2 cups.
