    Recipe Introduction

I made this to bring to the homeless shelter. It makes enough for an army.

    List of Ingredients

    • 3 1/2 - 4 pounds lean ground beef
    • 2 1/2 - 3 cups water
    • 3 cans (16 ounces each) tomato sauce
    • 2 cans (6 ounces) tomato paste
    • 5 large potatoes, peeled and chopped into 1/4 inch pieces
    • 3 cans corn niblets, drained
    • 2 large stalks of celery, roughly chopped
    • 1 large onion, roughly chopped
    • 4 large carrots, sliced int 1/4 inch circles`
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

    1. Cook the beef until browned. Drain off the fat.
    2. Place the meat in the stew pot (large with a lid) along with the water, tomato sauce, tomato paste, potatoes, corn, celery, onion, and carrots. Season with salt and pepper.
    3. Mix well. Cover with the lid and simmer on medium-low heat until the potatoes are cooked all the way through. About 2 hours.
    4. Serve nice and hot.

    Final Comments

When I make it for the family, I add some red wine to it and a bay leaf.
