    Double Chocolate Brownies

    Source of Recipe

adapted from the Toll House Heritage Cookbook

    List of Ingredients

    • 3/4 cup flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/3 cup butter
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 2 measuring tablespoons water
    • 1 12-ounce package (2 cups) chocolate chips, divided
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
    2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking and baking soda; set aside.
    3. In a large glass mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar water and 1 cup of chocolate chips. Heat in microwave for two minutes. Stir mixture. If needed, microwave one more minute, so mixture is smooth and all ingredients are melted.
    4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    5. Gradually blend in flour mixture.
    6. Stir in remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips, and nuts if desired.
    7. Spread mixture in greased 9-inch square baking pan.
    8. Bake 30-35 minutes.
    9. Cool completely.
    10. Cut into squares.
