    POUND CAKE

    Source of Recipe

    Nanna Strahm

    Recipe Introduction

This is an easy recipe to whip up easy at any time. Nanna would make this cake just to have later in the evenings with a cup of tea or when expecting company. I love using this cake for company. I can make each individual slice fancy by topping with sliced peaches or strawberries. My favorite is topping with a scoop of ice cream, add a cherry, whipped cream & drizzle a little chocolate syrup over it. Yum!

    List of Ingredients

    1 stick butter, softened
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 1/2 cup flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 cup of milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1/4 teaspoon almond extract
    powdered sugar for dusting

    Recipe

Using an electric mixer, cream together the sugar & butter. Add the eggs, vanilla & almond extract. Mix till smooth. In seperate bowl, add the flour, baking powder & salt and sift together. Add the dry ingredients alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Pour batter into well greased loaf pan. Bake in a 325 degree oven for approximately 1 hour. Remove from oven. Before serving, dust top with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
