    Kashi Onion Rye Bread

    List of Ingredients


    • 1oz dry yeast
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1 cup scalded lowfat milk
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or succanat
    • 2 teaspoons salt
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 2 cups unbleached white or whole-wheat flour
    • Rye flour
    • 1/2 cup cooked kashi pilaf, cooled
    • 2 tablespoons caraway seeds
    • 8 tablespoons finely chopped onion


    Instructions


    1. Scald milk in a saucepan. Cool, add brown sugar, salt, and butter. Dissolve yeast in water and add to milk. Blend in wheat flour, caraway seeds, cooked kashi pilaf and onion. Add enough rye flour to make a firm dough.

    2. Knead well then let rise until double. Knead again and shape into 2 small loaves. Slash tops twice and let rise to double.

    3. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Paint with oilve oil or melted butter.
