    Recipe Introduction

    Slovakian food at its best.

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 1/2 cups dry rice (Boil rice for 5 min-drain and cool)
    1 egg
    1 small onion,chopped
    salt and pepper
1 Tb. tomato sauce (reserve the rest of 14 oz. can)
    1 head of cabbage

    Saute for on top:
    1/2 small onion
    2 Tbs. oil
    2 Tbs. flour
    28 oz. can of tomatoes

    Recipe

Mix all ingredients except cabbage. Parboil head of cabbage until the leaves are soft. Trim the rib of cabbage leaf. Place meat (size of 3 walnuts) into each leaf. Fold ends in and rull them up. Secure with a toothpick.
Take 1 cup of the cabbage water, reserved tomato sauce and pour into a sock pot lined with extra cabbage leaves. Salt and pepper each piggie as you put it into the pot. Top with the saute.

    For the Saute:
Blend together oil and flour over low heat. Brown lightly stirring constantly. Add onions and cook until transluscent. Add tomatoes. Cook until thickened. Add about 1/2 cup cabbage water. Pour on piggies.

Cover pot of piggies and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours. Alternativly, bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. Just check on liquid to make sure they don't get too dry.
