    Carolyn's Chinese Pepper Steak

    Source of Recipe

    My original recipe

    Recipe Introduction

I have been making this recipe since 1964. It is really good!

    List of Ingredients

    1 Lb. Lean Round Steak
    1/4 Cup Corn Oil
    2 Cloves Garlic
    3/4 Cup Onion, coarsely chopped
2 Cups Bite-size Pieces Bell Pepper
    1 Teaspoon Salt
    1 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
    1 Teaspoon Ground Ginger
    2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
    2 Cups Beef Stock
    2 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
    Hot Cooked Rice

    Recipe

Cut steak diagonally across the grain into thin strips, then cut into strips about 2 inches long. Heat corn oil in skillet or electric wok over medium heat. Place garlic clove in hot oil; remove after three minutes.

Add steak strips to hot oil and cook over medium heat, turning as needed, until browned on both sides.

Mix in onion, green pepper, salt, pepper and ginger. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until just tender (about 3 minutes).

Blend cornstarch with stock and soy sauce. Stir into mixture in skillet. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, until liquid is thickened.

Serve hot over rice with Chinese egg noodles, if desired.

    YIELD: 4 servings
