    1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
    2 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 quart vanilla ice cream softened
    1 t. ground nutmeg
    1 t. ground cinnamon
    1 t. ground cardamom
    1 t. vanilla extract
    12 oz. dark rum

    Recipe



    In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except the rum, mixing
    thoroughly with a rubber spatula. Place the mixture into a plastic
    container with a li;
    seal and freeze. To prepare the drinks, place 2 heaping T. of the
    frozen
    batter in each mug, add 1 oz. of rum and 3/4 cup of boiling water. Stir
    until the
    batter is completely melted. For a nonalcoholic version, simply omit
    the rum.
    Serves 12
