    Recipe Introduction

These are an old Champion family recipe brought over from
    Land's End, England.
They are a baked pastry filled with ground beef, potatoes,
    and onions.

    List of Ingredients

    3.5 cups all-purpose flour
    1.5 teaspoons salt
1.5 cups of shortening (Crisco or Lard)
    1 cup of water (approximately)
3 or 4 medium potatoes, peeled & sliced
    1 lb ground beef
    1 or 2 onions, peeled & sliced

    Recipe

Sift the flour and salt together. Cut in the shortening with
a pastry blender until the pieces are the size of small
peas. Gradually sprinkle water over mixture, mixing lightly
with a fork after each addition; add only enough water to
    hold pastry together. Divide dough evenly into four pieces;
on a floured surface, roll out each piece into a circle, and
fill one half with sliced potatoes, ground beef, and onions.
Fold over and crimp edges; put a small hole in top for vent.
Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 45
    minutes.

    Yield: four pasties.
