    List of Ingredients


    • 2 &1/2 cups all purpose flour
    • 1&1/4 cups powdered sugar
    • 1 cup butter,softened
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tsp. baking soda
    • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
    • 1 tsp. almond extract
    • Frosting:
    • 4 cups powdered sugar
    • 1/2 cup butter, softened
    • 2 tsp. vanilla
    • 3-4 tablespoons milk
    • food coloring


    Instructions


    1. In a large bowl, combine all cookie ingredients. Beat at medium speed, until well mixed. Divide dough in half
    2. Heat oven to 375F. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough, 1/4-1/8in thick. Cut with 2-3in. cookie cutters. Place 1in. apart on cookie sheets.
    3. Bake for 6-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Let stand 1 minute. Remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely.
    4. For frosting, in a small bowl, combine sugar,butter and vanilla. Beat at low speed, adding enough milk until desired spreading consistency. If desired, color frosting with food coloring. Decorate cookies with frosting. If desired decorate with sprinkles or decorator candies.
