    Savory Criss-Cross Pastry

    If you couldn't guess, I got this from Pepperidge Farm.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 package Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets (1 sheet)
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 1/2# bulk pork sausage
    • 1 cup Pepperidge Fam Herb Seasoned Stuffing
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 1 cup chopped mushrooms


    Instructions


    1. Thaw pastry sheet at room temperature 30 minutes.
    2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    3. Mix 1 egg and 1 tablespoon water and set aside.
    4. Mix sausage, stuffing, remaining egg, onion and mushrooms thoroughly.
    5. Unfold pastry on lightly floured surface, creating 3 sections. Cut 9 strips in the wo outer sections, about 1-inch apart, cutting just to the fold line in the pastry.
    6. Spoon sausage mixture down center of pastry. Starting at one end, fold pastry strips over sausage mixture, alternating sides, to cover mixture.
    7. Place on baking sheet.
    8. Brush with egg mixture.
    9. Bake 35 minutes or until golden.
    10. Slice and serve warm.
    11. Serves 4 as a main dish or 8 as an appetzer.
