    1 cups sifted cake flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    3/4 tsp salt
    3/4 cup shortening
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    3 eggs -- unbeaten
    3/4 cup milk
    1/4 cup distilled vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp vanilla

    Recipe



    Sift flour, soda, and salt together.
    Cream shortening and add sugar gradually. Cream until light and
    fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat thoroughly after each
    addition.
    Combine milk, vinegar, and vanilla, and add alternately with the
    flour, 1/3 at a time. Beat until smooth after each addition.
    Turn into 3 greased, 9 inch layer cake pans. Bake in moderate oven
    (375 F) 25 to 30 minutes.
    When cool, frost with your favorite frosting.
