List of Ingredients
1 TB vegetable oil
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup finely chopped yellow onion
1 cup finely chopped celery
1 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup prepared barbecue sauce
1 pkg. (16 oz.) hot roll mix
1 large egg, beaten
Recipe
1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat until hot. Add ground
beef
and onion; cook until browned, about 3 minutes. Drain off fat. Add
celery and
bell pepper; cook and stir until vegetables are soft, about 3 minutes.
Add
cheddar and barbecue sauce; mix well. Cool for 10-15 minutes.
2. Prepare hot roll mix according to package directions. Let dough rest
for
about 5 minutes. Divide dough into 12 balls. Roll each ball into a
6-inch round
with a rolling pin.
3. Spoon about 1/4 cup beef mixture onto center of each dough round.
Fold
edges of dough toward center; pinch to seal. Place seam-side down on an
ungreased
baking sheet.
4. Cover; let rise in a warm place until almost double in size, about
20
minutes.
5. Preheat oven to 350º F. Brush tops of buns with beaten egg. Bake
buns
until golden, about 20 minutes. Remove from baking sheet; cool 5
minutes on a wire
rack. Serve warm.
Yield: 1 dozen.
