Chocolate Bread Pudding

2 cups milk
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup sugar
8 large eggs
1 Tblsp. vanilla
1 lb. bread egg bread (cut into 1" pieces)
8 oz. milk chocolate chips
Sauce Ingredients:
1 stick butter
1/3 cup sugar
3 Tblsp. cornstarch
1-1/2 cups water
1 tsp. vanilla
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine milk, cream and sugar in a heavy saucepan over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs and vanilla. Gradually wisk into the milk mixture.
Place bread pieces in a greased 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Pour pudding mixture over bread and let stand until bread absorbs the liquid (about 30 min.)
Cover with foil and bake until set in center (approx. 45 min.) Uncover and cool for at least 15 min. Serve warm with sauce.
Sauce:
Melt butter over medium heat. Stir in sugar and cornstarch. Add remaining ingredients and cook until mixture comes to a boil (stirring constantly). Boil for one minute and serve over warm bread pudding.
