Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

OLD FASHIONED SUGAR COOKIES.

1 C. butter (2 sticks)
2 C. sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1/3 C milk
1 T. pure vanilla extract
5 C flour
1 T baking Powder
1 tsp. salt
Plain or colored sugar

Grease a cookie sheet. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. In a separate bowl mix the eggs, milk and vanilla. In a third bowl mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Beat the egg mixture into the flour mixture and alternate into the butter mixture. Gather into 4 balls and refrigerate for 1 hour. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 " thickness. Cut out shapes and place on the greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375F. degrees 12 to 15 minutes or until edges brown. Transfer to a rack and cool.
