    2 egg whites
    1/4 tsp. salt
    pinch of cream of tartar
    3/4 cup sugar
    1 (12oz) pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
    Red and Green Sugar Sprinkles (for Christmas time)


    In a small mixing bowl, beat egg whites, salt and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.

    Gradually add sugar; beat until stiff peaks form.

    Gently fold in the chips 1/2 cup at a time.

    Drop by level tablespoon onto a greased baking sheets.

    Sprinkle lightly with sugar.

    Bake at 300 for 20-25 minutes or until meringues are dry and crisp.

    Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes.

    Remove to wire racks; cool completeley

    Store in air tight containers.

    * Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies
