    Tomato Sauce for Macaroni

    This is my sauce or gravy as Italians call it. I put meatballs, sausage and bracciole in it as well.

    List of Ingredients




    1 large can tomato puree
    1 large can crushed tomato
    4 16 oz cans tomato sauce
    2 16 oz. cans of tomato paste
    3 tablespoons oil
    2 medium chopped onions
    garlic, parsley,salt, pepper, oregano, crushed red pepper, basil and 2 bay leaves ( spices are a handful of each except red pepper use just a little bit)
    1/2 cup sugar

    Recipe



    Put oil in large 8 qt. pot and saute onion till soft. Add all the spices and saute for 1 minute. Add all the tomatoe sauces. Fill cans 1/2 filled with water. Add water to pot. Add sugar. Add all meat to pot after cooking. Simmer for at least 3 hours.

    Meatballs:
    3 lbs. Chop meat
    Dried onion flakes, garlic salt, black pepper, oregano, parsley, red pepper and basil. Small handfull of each except red pepper use just a little bit.
    3/4 cup Red wine
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 cups bread crumbs

    Put dried onions in red wine to rehydrate. Put meat and spices in bowl with eggs and bread crumbs. Mix with your hands till all combined and than form into medium size balls. Put foil on cookie sheet, spray with pam, put meatballs on cookie sheet and bake @ 400 degrees for 20 minutes, than broil tops of balls till browned. Add to sauce.

    Sausages:
    Put sausages links on cookie sheet, prick with knife for a vent in each link. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees and broil tops till browned. Add to sauce.

    Bracciole:
    Brown meat on cookie sheet for 20 minutes at 400 degrees and than broil tops till browned. Add to sauce.
