Recipe Introduction
Follow the recipe shown to make a batch of gingerbread-scented dough. Set the dough in a
center; then add a variety of gingerbread boy and girl cookie cutters for students to use. Encourage
each child to sort the play dough shapes, seriate them by size, or create a pattern with them. Or,
for fine-motor fun, place pairs of child-safe scissors in the area. Encourage youngsters to roll out
small balls of dough; then have them practice their scissor skills by cutting the scented dough into
strips.
List of Ingredients
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. ground ginger
1 c. salt
1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbsp. ground cloves
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tbsp. ground allspice
1 c. water
Recipe
Combine ingredients in a large bowl. Mix together well
and knead them until smooth. Store the dough in an airtight
container and refrigerate until ready to use.
