    Recipe Introduction

Gingies is a favorite of our family. Be sure to roll these quite thick and don't over bake. We frost with a buttercream frosting ( some cream cheese added). Tupperware is a great place to store them and they are soooo goood the next day. If I don't feel like rolling them out I roll them in balls and then in sugar before I bake.

    List of Ingredients

    1/3 C soft shortening
    1 C brown sugar
    1 1/2C. molasses
    1/2 C. cold water
    6 C. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp/ ginger
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. soda dissolved in 3T. COLD WATER

    Recipe

Cream shortening and brown sugar, add molasses then cold water and mix well. Next beat all the spices and soda mixted with cold water. Stirr in the flour don't add too much flour. Chill dough. Roll out very thick (1/2"). Cut with 2 1/2" round cutter, place far apart on greased baking sheet. Bake until when touched lightly with finger it leaves no imprint. Bake 325' for 15-18 minutes.
