Light Chocolate Chip Cookies

2-1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 Tbs. unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 egg whites
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup flaked coconut
2/3 cup almonds, toasted and chopped
1-1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Combine flour and baking soda in a bowl and set aside. Cream together next 3 ingredients in another bowl and set aside. Beat egg whites in another bowl with a electric mixer until foamy. Gradually add white sugar and then corn syrup. Combine egg white mixture with brown sugar mixture and mix well. Gradually stir in dry mixture, then last 3 ingredients.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Coat cookie sheets with nonstick cooking spray and drop dough by heaping teaspoons, spacing them at least 1 inch apart. Bake 7-9 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes before transferring cookies to racks to cool completely.
