    Recipe Introduction

You may have heard or seen the term herbal infusion or herb-infused oil on a soap label or recipe, but didn't quite know what it was. Here's a simple recipe for infusing your favorite herb or botanical into an oil.

    List of Ingredients

2 cups or 16 oz of olive oil
8 ounces of dried calendula flowers (or any botanical)

    Recipe

This method takes about 1-2 weeks to complete. Place the calendula and olive oil in a pot and heat to 100º -- remove from heat and cover. Repeat this procedure daily for the next week or two. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth. Fill a glass container with the infused oil. The oil will keep indefinitely if container is tightly closed.

Use the infused oil in your favorite soap or salve recipe.
