    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups cornmeal, yellow or white
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 egg, well beaten
    • 2 cups buttermilk
    • 1/4 cup melted ham or bacon fat


    Instructions


    1. Grease pans for about 15 cornstick pans. Place pans in moderately hot oven (400 Degrees) to heat while mixing batter. Mix together, 2 cups cornmeal, soda and salt. Stir into the mixture, 1 egg, 2 cups buttermilk and melted ham or bacon fat. Pour into hot pans. Bake 25 to 30 minutes in moderate hot oven (400 degrees). Makes 15 cornsticks.
