    French Toast: Cinnamon French Toast Sticks

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 1/4 cups milk
    • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 2 eggs
    • 10 slices sandwich bread, cut into thirds
    • Spicy Cider Syrup:
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 2 cups apple cider
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
    • 1/4 cup butter or margarine


    Instructions


    1. Make spicy cider syrup; keep warm.

    2. Heat griddle or skillet over medium high heat or an electric griddle to 375; grease with cooking spray, vegetable oil or shortening.

    3. Surface is ready when a few drops pf water sprinkled on it dance and disappear.

    4. Beat remaining ingredients except bread with a fork until smooth.

    5. Dip bread sticks into batter; drain excess batter back into bowl.

    6. Place bread sticks on griddle.

    7. Cook about 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

    8. Serve with syrup.

    9. Spicy Cider Syrup: Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg in a 2 quart saucepan.

    10. Stir in cider and lemon juice.

    11. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.

    12. Boil and stir 1 minutes; remove from heat and stir in butter.
