    Pound Cake: Best Ever Pound Cake

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 sticks butter or margarine
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 3 cups sugar
    • 5 eggs
    • 3 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream the margarine and shortening. Add the sugar and continue creaming until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately the dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture. Blend thoroughly. Add the vanilla. Scrape the sides of the bowl and beat for one more minute. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 10" tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes, until cake is golden brown and cooks away from the sides of the pan.
