    • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
    • 2 tablespoons margarine
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup
    • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut


    Instructions


    1. Mix milk, sugar, margarine, salt and corn syrup in a saucepan using a wooden spoon.
    2. Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
    3. Remove from heat; add chocolate chips and vanilla extract.
    4. Mix well and add 3/4 cup of the coconut and spoon into buttered 11x7-inch pan. Fudge will be to thick to pour.
    5. Smooth in pan with wooden spoon.
    6. Press remaining coconut on top of fudge and mark into 1 1/2 inch squares.
    7. When cool, cut squares through.
    8. Makes 2 pounds.
