    Ohio Au Gratin Potatoes

    List of Ingredients


    • 12 medium sized potatoes
    • 2 medium onions
    • 1/2 cup flour
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 16 ounces cheddar cheese or velveeta
    • 5 cups milk


    Instructions


    1. Wash potatoes and poke holes with fork. Cook whole potatoes in microwave until nearly fully cooked (about 15 to 20 minutes). Set out to cool. Slice onions in rings; set aside.
    2. In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour. Slowly add the milk. Stir continuously until mixture begins to boil and thicken. Add the cheese (I like to use half cheddar and half velveeta).
    3. Slice cooled potatoes into thick slices. Layer one layer in the bottom of a lightly greased 9x13 baking dish. Add a layer of onions and seasoning (such as salt, pepper, fresh herbs, etc.). Top with some of the cheese mixture. Continue with new layers until pan is full. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
