    I've finally found that taste I remember from my childhood! If you're sick of everybody's icky sweet potatoes covered with icky marshmellows, try this!

    List of Ingredients




    6 medium sized sweet potatoes
    (or the same quantity of yams)
    1 cup corn syrup
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3 tbsp. butter

    I have used a large can of yams instead.

    Recipe



    Partially cook unpeeled potatoes in boiling water. Cool and skin. Cut the potatoes in halves lengthwise or in three pieces if the potatoes are large enough. (Start here for canned yams.) Put them in a greased baking dish for just one layer not packing too closely. Make a syrup by boiling the corn syrup, brown sugar, salt and butter until fairly thick. Pour the syrup over the potatoes and place them in the oven to brown for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Turn potatoes over carefully to brown the other side and baste frequently with the syrup. The potatoes may be served in the baking dish.
