    Oven Swiss Steak

    List of Ingredients






    1/2 to 1/4 lb. round steak
    2 T. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    8 oz. can stewed tomatoes
    1/4 c. chopped celery
    1/4 c. chopped carrots
    1/4 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
    1 T. chopped onion
    2 T. shredded American cheese

    Recipe



    Cut meat into two portions. Mix flour and salt; rub well into meat. Brown in skillet in a small amount of oil or shortening. Transfer mat to shallow baking dish. Blend remaining flour with meat drippings. Add remaining ingredients, except cheese, and bring to boil. Pour over meat. Bake covered for 2 hr. at 350F. Add a small amount of water if necessary. Add cheese and return to oven for a few minutes until cheese melts.

    Serves 2.
