    Corn and Bacon Chowder

    1/2 # bacon coarsely chopped
    1 6 oz. russet potato, peeled, cut into 1/2" pieces
    1 cup chopped onion
    3/4 chopped celery
    2 small bay leaves
    2 cups whole milk
    1 10oz package frozen corn
    1 14 oz can creamed corn
    1 1/4 cup vegetable broth
    1/2 cup chopped celery leaves
    1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce

    Saute bacon in heavy lg pot until crisp and brown. Using slotted spoon transfer to paper towel. Pour off all but 2 Tbsp. drippings from pot. Add potato, onion, celery and bay leaves to pot. Saute until veggies begin to soften - about 5 minutes. Add milk, frozen corn, creamed corn and veg broth and bring to boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
