    Beef Stroganoff Sandwich

This is very good and very filling.

    List of Ingredients

    2 lbs. ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 t. salt
    1/2 t. garlic powder
    1/4 t. pepper -- (1/4 to 1/2)
    1 loaf French bread -- (1 lb.)
    margarine -- softened
    2 c. sour cream (16 oz.)
2 tomatoes -- seeded and diced (I drain on paper towels)
1 large green pepper -- seeded and diced
    3 c. shredded cheddar cheese (12 oz.)

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brown ground beef and onion; drain. Add salt, garlic powder, and pepper.

Cut bread lengthwise in half; butter both sides and place on large baking sheet.

Remove meat mixture from heat and stir in sour cream.

Spoon onto bread. Sprinkle with tomatoes and green pepper.

Bake for 10 minutes then remove from oven.

Sprinkle cheese over the top and bake another 10 minutes until cheese is melted.

    6-8 servings

NOTES : I usually cut this recipe in half since there are only 3 of us.

Another recipe I have (that is similar to this) calls for broiling the buttered bread before you put the meat mixture on. It also calls for a can of drained mushrooms to be mixed in with the meat mixture. I haven't tried this yet, but it would probably be good.
