    Spread- Gourmet Chick-Pea and Garlic Spread

    List of Ingredients

    1 (19-ounce) can chick-peas, drained
    1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
    3 ounces cream cheese, softened
    1 garlic clove, minced
    3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    crackers or toasted pita triangles as an accompaniment

    Recipe

    In a food processor puree the chick-peas, add the butter, the cream cheese, the garlic, the lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste, and blend the mixture until it is smooth. Transfer the spread to a bowl. The spread may be made up to 1 day in advance and kept covered and chilled. Serve the spread at room temperature with the crackers. Makes 2 1/2 cups
