Sourdough- Raisin Casserole Bread
List of Ingredients
1 cup sourdough starter
1/ 4 cup lukewarm milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup seedless raisins
2 cups all-purpose flour
Recipe
Measure out sourdough starter into large mixing bowl. Add milk, sugar, butter, salt, egg, cinnamon and nuts. Combine raisins and flour. Add to batter gradually while stirring to form a stiff dough. Cover with a cloth.
Set in warm place free from drafts and let rise about 1 hour or until doubled in size. Stir batter down. Place in greased 1-quart casserole dish.
Bake at 350°F ( 177°C) for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 1 1oaf.
For variety, cinnamon and nuts may be replaced by other fruits and spices.
