    List of Ingredients




    1/2 cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs (well-beaten)
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    3 tsp baking powder
    3/4 tsp salt
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
    1 cup buttermilk
    1/2 tsp soda
    1 cup blackberry jam
    3/4 cup chopped dates
    1/2 cup chopped pecans
    1 can coconut
    1 tsp vanilla

    Recipe



    Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add well-beaten eggs. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk which has been mixed with soda. Beat until smooth. Add jam, dates, pecans, coconut and vanilla. Mix well. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes to 1 hour
    or until cake tester comes out clean.
