    1 cup butter
    2 cups sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp soda dissolved in ½ cup buttermilk
    1 box dates cut fine and floured
    1 lb. orange slice candy cut fine and floured
    2 cups pecans, chopped coarsely and floured
    3½ cups flour (use part of this for coating above)
    2 cups powdered sugar
    2/3 cup orange juice

    Recipe



    Cream butter and sugar, add eggs. Alternately add buttermilk/soda and flour. Beat well and add other ingredients. Bake in large greased and floured tube pan for 2½ hours at 275°.
    Dissolve powdered sugar in orange juice and pour over cake while it is still hot. Let stay in pan over night.
