    6 medium apples
    1 cup sugar
    3/4 cup water
    1 1/2 inch piece of stick cinnamon
    red food coloring

    Recipe



    Cook sugar, water, cinnamon and food coloring for 5 minutes. Put in peeled, cored, sliced apples; cover, and simmer about 40 minutes, or until syrup is cooked down. Turn apples frequently to let color and syrup cook through evenly.
