    Lipton Onion Meat Loaf

    1 envelope Lipton Onion Recipe Soup Mix
    1 - 2 eggs (optional )
    1 cup catsup -- or -- 1 can tomato soup -- or -- 1 can tomato sauce special
    1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs -- or -- Saltine cracker crumbs
    2 pounds ground beef

    1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce


    6 medium potatoes -- cooked, mashed
    (about 2 cups)
    1/4 cup Lipton Onion Butter*
    1/4 cup milk
    1 egg
    1 tablespoon prepared mustard (optional)

    Preheat oven to 375°F. In large 2-quart -- combine Lipton Onion Recipe Soup Mix, eggs, tomato sauce , then add bread crumbs, Worchestershire sauce, meat

    and mix well. Pack meat mixture down into bowl and bake in bowl for 1 hour.

    Thoroughly drain drippings (use to make -- invert meat loaf onto a jelly roll pan.
    gravy if desired)

    Combine mashed potatoes -- Lipton Onion
    Butter, milk, egg and mustard. Beat until
    light and fluffy. Spread potato mixture
    over entire meat loaf. Increase oven
    temperature to 425°F. and bake 20
    minutes, or until golden. Makes 6 to 8
    servings.

    *LIPTON ONION BUTTER:

    Blend 1 envelope Lipton Onion Recipe Soup Mix thoroughly with 1/2 pound butter or margarine. Makes about 1-1/4 cups. Store, covered, in refrigerator.
