Orange Twists
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup Smucker's Sweet Orange Marmalade
1/4 cup flaked coconut
In mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or a fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients; add milk all at once. Stir with a fork until dough clings together. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead 10 to 12 strokes. Roll dough to a 15 x 8-inch rectangle. Spread orange marmalade over the dough. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup coconut. Fold dough in half to make a 15 x 4-inch rectangle. Cut in one-inch strips. Holding strips at both ends, twist twice. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake in 450° F oven 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 15 twists.
