    This was my mom's recipe and I happen to think they are the best baked beans around. They certainly don't last long and this is a great dish to take to pot-lucks.


    List of Ingredients




    Mom's Baked Beans

    1 large can B&M brand baked beans - 55 oz.
    1/2 lb chopped bacon or more -- maple flavor is good
    1 large onion -- chopped -- or-- 2 medium onions
    1/2 cup ketchup
    1/4 cup diced bell pepper
    2 tablespoons French's prepared mustard
    1 cup brown sugar (packed)


    Fry the bacon and onion until cooked and pour off the grease.
    Combine all remaining ingredients in pan and mix.

    Cover and simmer slowly for 1 hour.
    Pour into casserole dish or shallow pan, cover, and bake in a preheated 300-325 degree oven for approximately 45 minutes.
    Remove foil, stir, and continue cooking until thickened, (approximately 20 minutes).
