Cheesy potato soup

1 c. water
1 lg. onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. white pepper
2 c. milk, heated
1 c. shredded sharp or extra sharp cheddar cheese
paprika
Recipe
Put the potatoes, broth, water, onions & garlic powder in crockpot; cover & cook on low 7-9 hours, or on high 4-6 hours. When done, mash the potatoes, but leave some lumps in them. Stir in the pepper & milk a little at a time; add cheese. Cook until cheese has melted, maybe 5 minutes. If you want a thinner or creamier soup, add more milk. Garnish each serving with paprika. (this will make about 5 servings).
