Mom's Layer Dessert
I first ate this dessert when I was in the third grade, and it is still one of my favorites. I have seen it called by many differant names, but I just refer to it as layered dessert. You can make it with differant varieties of puddings...we have had it with banana, with fresh bananas under the pudding. We have had it with lemon pudding, great in the spring for dessert. Enjoy, and play with this recipe.
List of Ingredients
- crust
- 2 c. flour
- 3/4 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. nuts chopped
- next layer
- 8 oz. cream cheese softened
- 1 c. powdered sugar
- 1 c. cool whip
- next layer
- 2 small boxes of instant chocolate pudding
- 3 c. milk
- next layer
- cool whip next layer
- sprinkle with chopped nuts
Instructions
- Mix flour margarine and nuts and press in the bottom of a 9"x13" pan that has been sprayed with pam. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes. Let cool once out of the oven.
- Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar and cool whip until smooth and has no lumps. Spread over the cooled crust.
- Mix the pudding and milk. Pour over the cream cheese layer while still thinner...let it sit in the pan for a minute to thicken before going onto the next layer.
- Spread cool whip over the pudding. Sprinkle with nuts. Store in the refrigerator until you serve. Store left overs in the fridge.
