Hoe cakes actually used to be cooked on a hoe over an open fire.




List of Ingredients




1-1/2 cups medium ground corn meal (plain)
1/4 cup self-rising flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1-1/4 cups water






Recipe



Mix all together (You want this to be fairly thin so you might want to add more water) Grease griddle with oil and get hot. I like to make them like very thin pancakes. They are crisper. Cook on griddle until brown and crisp.
