    Recipe Introduction


    This recipe makes a LOT -- enough for a few big loaves or several small ones, which make great gifts.

    List of Ingredients




    3 c sugar
    1 c shortening
    4 eggs
    2 c pumpkin (one can)
    1/2 c orange juice
    1/2 c water
    3 1/3 c flour
    2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp ground cloves
    2 tsp salt

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray loaf pans with non-stick cooking spray. Cream together the sugar and shortening. Blend in eggs. Add pumpkin, orange juice and water. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Add this mixture to the wet stuff and blend together until thoroughly mixed. Pour into loaf pans, leaving room for the dough to rise. cook for about an hour (less for smaller loaves), checking for doneness with a knife or toothpick. Let cool and remove from pans.
