Chewy Brownie Cookies

List of Ingredients

2/3 c shortening
1 1/2 c packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp water
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1/3 c baking cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 c (12-oz) semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c chopped walnuts or pecans


Recipe

In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar, water
and vanilla. Beat in the eggs. Combine flour, cocoa, salt
and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and beat just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop
by rounded teaspoonfuls on ungeased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-9 minutes. Cool 2 minutes before removing to wire racks. Makes 3 dozen.
