3 to 4 lbs. ground beef
1 lg. chopped onion
1 green pepper, chopped
1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes, scrunched up
2 (16 oz.) cans kidney beans
1 tbsp. pureed jalapenos
2 1/2 tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tbsp. cayenne pepper
1 tbsp. black pepper
1/2 tbsp. salt
1/2 tbsp. crushed garlic (2 cloves)
1 tbsp. ground cumin
Pinch of celery salt or flakesRecipe
Brown meat. Add onions and peppers. Simmer for 15 minutes. Combine dry ingredients and add, together with tomatoes, jalapenos and garlic; lastly add beans.
Cook slowly for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve with condiments you like. Grated cheese, sour cream, onions, etc. Serve hot with corn chips or cornbread. Mmmm good. Serves 6 to 8.
