3 lb. coarse ground beef
5 tbsp. oil
2 c. chopped onion
4 cloves garlic
1 1/2 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. crushed red peppers
2 c. beef broth
1 (29 oz.) can tomatoes
1 (16 oz.) tomato paste
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. saltRecipe
Saute onion and garlic in oil, add beef and brown thoroughly.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer 1 hour uncovered and 1 hour, covered. If you desire thicker chili add 1/4 cup corn meal and cook 5 additional minutes.
Serve on top of steamed rice or red beans, use for chili dogs or tortilla filling with cheese.
