List of Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes
1 12-ounce can tomato paste
1 15-ounce can tomato puree
2 15-ounce cans red kidney beans
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon cumin
11/2 tablespoons chili powder
3 to 4 cups waterRecipe
In a heavy kettle heat the vegetable oil. Add onion and cook until translucent. Add ground beef. Cook, breaking up large chunks with the back of a wooden spoon, until no longer pink. If desired, drain off the grease.
Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 30 minutes.
Makes 12 servings.
