11/2 pounds lean ground chuck
1 large onion, diced
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
11/2 teaspoons cumin
1/2 teaspoon allspice
2 28-ounce cans canned tomatoes
2 cans (151/2-ounce) Brooks Hot Chili Beans
11/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 ounce semi-sweet chocolate
1 bay leaf
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
1 15-ounce can beef broth Recipe
Brown beef in skillet. Add onion and cook until transparent. Remove from heat and drain. Add all the spices and mix well. Put tomatoes and remaining ingredients — beans, sugar, chocolate, bay leaf, paste and broth — in a Dutch oven or soup pot. Add ground beef mixture to the tomato mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer at least 2 hours.
Serves 8.
