    1 cup shortening
    2/3 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup molasse
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    pinch of salt
    2 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 4 tbsp. boiling water
    flour enough to handle the dough

    Recipe



    Cream shortening,brown sugar.Add molasse,egg,vanilla,salt,baking soda.Mix well.Add flour.Roll thin,cut in circle.
    Bake at 350 deg.for 8 minutes.While hot put together with jam.
