Cranberry Nut Bread

Judy's Recipe
1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup orange juice
2 Tbsp. grated orange rind
1 cup chopped cranberries
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Alternate adding hot orange juice and dry ingredient mixture to the sugar and shortening mixture.
Stir in orange rind, cranberries, and chopped nuts.
Pour into well-greased loaf pan and bake 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees.
Cool for 15 minutes before turning out of pan.
